Mick Fleetwood has been with Fleetwood Mac since its inception, has a slew of solo albums, is a photographer with exhibits throughout the country, and is a restaurateur with his Fleetwood’s on Front Street. The drummer previously released two books: Fleetwood: My Life and Adventures in Fleetwood Mac in 1990 and Play On: Now, Then, and Fleetwood Mac: The Autobiography in 2015; however, the latest book doesn’t just highlight his story, it highlights the early years of Fleetwood Mac.
Started in 1967, Fleetwood Mac consisted of Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, and Bob Brunning. This version of the band debuted at the Windsor Jazz and Blues Festival as Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac. Soon after, John McVie joined them replacing Brunning, and the rest is history. That rich history has been documented on the written page by Mick Fleetwood.

Fleetwood will release his latest publication this year called Love that Burns: A Chronicle of Fleetwood Mac, Volume One, 1967-1974. This book centers on the early years of the band. Spawned in what has been dubbed the British Blues Boom, Fleetwood Mac was primarily a blues band with hit singles such as “Albatross”, “Black Magic Woman”, and “Need Your Love So Bad”. Fleetwood not only documents his own early years from childhood through his first bands, but also Fleetwood Mac’s early journey into stardom. The book also contains over 400 photos, memorabilia, and illustrations, as well as commentary from John McVie, Peter Green, and others.
For those who love a great music biography and limited edition items, Love that Burns is right up their alley. Only 2,000 editions are scheduled for release. According to the Love that Burns website, the handcrafted book, “…is quarter bound in leather with foil blocking, yellow sprayed page edging and a padded cover featuring the Fleetwood Mac artwork of Sixties graphic artist, Gunther Kieser. An exclusive 7″ vinyl picture disc includes, ‘Love That Burns’ from the 1968 Mr. Wonderful Album and a rare instrumental track, first recorded in February 1967, titled ‘Fleetwood Mac’ from which the band took its name (love that burns).” The book is expected to be released in July 2017 with a publishing date of September 2017.
Mick Fleetwood has been a staple in the band’s history, created multiple solo albums, is a restaurateur, and a photographer. His latest endeavor, Love that Burns, centers on the band’s early years with exclusive and rare photos, as well as memorabilia.
