AOTM: Styx, Reo Speedwagon, and Don Felder Touring in 2017

Summertime brings warm weather, beach hangouts, late-night bon fires, and grills. It also brings some of the best music to the area. Summer tour season kicks off at the end of May and this year’s lineup of concerts looks like an awesome one. While there are many to choose from, one concert to keep on the radar is United We Rock.  Headlined by Styx, Reo Speedwagon, and Don Felder, United We Rock is set to bring legendary rock to the stage on a 26-city tour this summer.

The rock legends are not unfamiliar with working together. Styx and Reo Speedwagon have toured together before, and also recorded a live album/DVD titled Arch Allies: Live at Riverport, as well as had a successful 2012/2013 tour titled Midwest Rock-n-Roll Express (styx.com). Don Felder recently joined Styx in Las Vegas for their five night limited engagement titled Styx & Don Felder: Renegades in the Fast Lane at the Venetian Theatre, as well as welcomed Reo Speedwagon’s Dave Amato for a performance of “Hotel California” on the Rock Legends Cruise. Not only do these veterans of rock have a lot of talent and the history of working together, they also have the professional experience to put on an excellent show.

Something unique about this live show is the closing band performance. In most cases, the closing headliner stays the same, however, on the United We Rock tour, the closing headliner changes for each venue. All three acts will play each night with either Styx or Reo Speedwagon closing it out.  This change of closing headliner is important. It signifies that all of the artists recognize the immense talent and success of the other without demanding the limelight, which results in an overall better show. Their talents can shine throughout the night, and according to Tommy Shaw, “Hitting the road with REO and Don Felder is gonna be an unforgettable evening of music for the fans and another chance to hang with these good time friends of ours who love the life as much as we do (styx.com).” Fans will come away from this concert knowing that their classic rock fix has been satisfied and that they experienced something unusual in the concert touring world.

The United We Rock tour will visit 26 cities over the course of the summer, and hit up Tinley Park, Illinois in July. Performing at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, the concert will feature all three acts with Styx closing the night out. Current ticket prices range from $27.00- $100.00 with VIP packages available from the respected bands at higher prices. Fans will want to purchase tickets earlier rather than later as the ticket presale began in February.

Rock legends Styx, Reo Speedwagon, and Don Felder are headed out on a summer tour this year called United We Rock. The musicians will put on a show that provides the classic rock fix fans want while also showcasing a night of friendship and amazing talent on the stage. Northeast Wisconsin will have the opportunity to see them at the Hollywood Casino Ampitheatre in July.
